Chablis "Terroir Découverte"

France
Burgundy
2023

From a single-vineyard just next to 1er Cru Vaulorent, the north facing side of the Grand Cru hill, named Des Couverts. The vineyard lies in a cool corridor and is typically the last wine to be harvested. Nice fruity attack complemented with a salty finish. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks.

"The Chablis “Découverte” bottling from Patrick Piuze was first produced in the 2011 vintage. As I have noted in the past, this parcel of villages level vines lies right next door to the premier cru of Vaulorent and the 2023 version has turned out very well indeed. It offers up a fine nose of apple, lemon, a touch of tart orange, chalky minerality, citrus peel and a topnote of anise. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a good core of fruit, sound framing acids, good focus and balance and a long, succulent and wide open finish."
