"Wow! This is what I call a sexy bouquet! The 2016 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling "GP" is lush and a bit untamed on the nose, showing crunchy/flinty slate as well as intense and juicy ripe Riesling flavors. The 2016 was picked in two steps, an early one at 100° Oechsle with lower acidity and another picking a week later with 95° Oechsle and higher acidity. Fermented for nine months in stainless steel and bottled only at the end of September, the 2016 Goldtröpfchen shows a round, intense, very juicy, dense, piquant and well-structured palate with fine tannins and lingering slate aromas. The wine has a still yeasty texture but is still a bit closed compared to the other "grands crus" and even the Grafenberg that was bottled in June and comes along very mineral and racy. However, the Goldtröpfchen is a very promising wine that should be cellared for another year or two. Tasted March 2018."
