Pinot Noir Dhroner Hofberg

Germany
Mosel
2019

Stefan calls 2019 his "breakthrough vintage" for Pinot Noir. At five years old, this wine is proving him right. The Hofberg is an historic grand cru for both Pinot and Riesling, founded on grey/blue slate but with a lattice of red iron-oxide streaks lending the wines exotic floral and spice notes. "Quite concentrated and highly-structured... this is only just beginning to open up and has clearly been made for long aging."  -Stuart Piggott

"Deep nose of damp forest floor and Amarena cherry, with notes of freshly washed linen and baking spices. Quite concentrated and highly-structured on the medium-bodied palate, this has a cool mineral freshness that keeps it very bright through the long and crisp finish. This is only just beginning to open up and has clearly been made for long aging. Drinkable now, but best from 2025."
