Corton Bressandes Grand Cru

France
Burgundy
2021

This cuvée comes from four parcels which total 1.12 hectare, situated mid-slope and spread in homogenous fashion over the whole appellation, giving a nice typicity of Bressandes. The soils are deep and made up in equal parts of limestone and clay, giving the wine lovely balance and great length on the palate. It is a terroir that is very representative of the appellation Corton. The vines average 40 years-old and face east. Fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged in barrel for 18 months, with a very modest 15% new oak.

"Like the Lavières, there is a touch of post-bottling reduction but there is excellent freshness and underlying tension on the palate of the rich and wonderfully textured bigger-bodied and tautly muscular flavors that culminate in a dusty, compact and very clearly built-to-age finale. This isn't as dense as it usually is but it's even finer and the balance is so good that this beauty should age for as long as anyone might reasonably care to."
