Angelica is a sweet fortified wine that originated in the early 19th century, when Spanish missionaries planted País, or "Mission" grapes, throughout California. Monte Rio's 2022 Angelica is 80% Mission from the Somers Vineyard, and 20% Flame Tokay from the Old School Vineyard (planted in 1906!). It is reminiscent of a fine tawny port, showing complex notes of figs, coffee liquor, and raisin, with a long rich finish of toffee and caramel. Bottled in 500ml format. 19.5% abv.
