Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc

France
Rhône
2023

21% Grenache Blanc, 21% Roussanne, 21% Bourbelenc, 21% Clairette and 15% Picpoul. 5% of the Roussanne is fermented in new oak for 6 weeks, then aged in stainless steel. No malolactic.

It’s uncommon to find Bourboulenc in a CdP Blanc; Alexandre likes it in the blend because it tends to have lower alcohol than the other grapes, and brings acidity and balance to the wine.

"This wine opens with vibrant aromatics of fresh citrus, green pear, quince, and tangerine, beautifully complemented by wild white flowers. On the palate, it offers a gentle yet nuanced experience, with notes of white peach, lemon zest, brioche, almonds, and a hint of sea salt. The texture is refined, supported by a lively acidity that invites immediate enjoyment. Perfectly suited for pairing with fresh salads, it's a wine that shines in the moment."

"Chante Cigale’s 2023 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc is made from a unique blend of twenty percent each of clairette, grenache blanc, roussanne, bourboulenc and picpoul. Five percent of the roussanne is barrel-fermented in new oak, but then racked into the rest of the blend after only six weeks in cask. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation and the 2023 version comes in at an even fourteen percent octane. It offers up a bright and complex bouquet of pear, coriander seed, a touch of honeydew melon, white soil tones, dried flowers and just a wisp of wild fennel in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, complex and full-bodied, with a lovely core of fruit, excellent soil signature, sound acids and lovely focus and balance on the long and classy finish. This is very good Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc! "

"Mixing Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Picpoul and Roussanne in equal proportions, the 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc shows well. Vivid spring blossom aromas complement yellow apple, ripe pear and cedar tones. Full-bodied and rich, the 2023 is seamlessly balanced by fresh acidity. It finishes with good length on the fruit-driven close."
