90g/l RS, 9g acid, 7% alc. There was botrytis in this vintage, but at Gunderloch it was the dry, clean kind that winemakers love. Tasted upon release, it showed extremely pale and pretty with great juiciness and lift--atypical for a Rhine Auslese. Sweet lemon tea notes play around the edges. With only 10g RS more than the Spatlese in that year, this is perhaps less of a dessert style than an after-dinner wine for a course of creamy cheeses with membrillo and fig jam; or else just on its own. If serving with dessert, try a lighter pastry like key lime pie or pavlova.
