Amphibolites meet limestone in the terraces of the south-exposed Langenlois Schenkenbichl. The name Schenkenbichl derives from "Geschenk", which means "present", and Stef and Alwin are grateful to savor the gifts of this vineyard. The grapes are selectively harvested by hand.The mash then macerates for several hours to extract the deep aromas from the berries.The naturally sedimented must ferments in 1000-liter wooden barrels made of local oak with natural yeasts.

"Jurtschitsch's 2020 Ried Schenkenbichl 1ÖTW Kamptal Grüner Veltliner shows clear, bright fruit with lactic notes. Juicy, elegant and delicate in the mouth, it has salt and substance as well as good length but also a lactic touch, a trait running through many of this producer's wines and one that holds little fascination for me."
