"Jean-Yves Pérard only began selling his wines on his own in 2012, as previously, he sold his production to one of the Grandes Marques. Most of his vines are located in Cernay-les-Reims, located on the eastern slopes of the Montagne de Reims and planted to chardonnay vines that range from forty to sixty years of age. For his non-vintage Blanc de Blancs bottling, eighty percent of the vins clairs are raised in stainless steel and twenty percent in older foudres. The wine is from the base year of 2019, but with fully sixty percent of the blend reserve wines from 2017. It was finished with a dosage of two grams per liter and disgorged in May of 2022. The nose wafts from the glass in a lovely, youthful blend of pear, fresh almond, brioche, a lovely base of soil and a topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied, focused and well-balanced, with a good core, frothy mousse, good soil signature and a long, nascently complex finish. This is a lovely bottle, but still a touch primary in personality and more complexity will unfold with a bit of bottle age."
