Elizabeth Harcourt

After bravely fleeing from the grips of academia, Elizabeth started her wine journey at Astor Wines & Spirits in New York City in the early 2000s. At the time, she knew the divine and theological implications of wine’s creation, but not that Sancerre was made from Sauvignon Blanc. Forever a student, Astor Wines quickly hurried her into WSET classes and numerous tastings to get her up to speed, but those those more formal wine studies, multiple wine trips, and the daily engagement with thirsty clients and thousands of bottles led her into fine-dining where she now could justify her awkward lurking outside of reputable kitchens.
Elizabeth’s first sommelier job was at Montrachet, Drew Nieporent’s legendary Burgundy restaurant in TriBeCa, where it rained Roumier and Raveneau and rarely a reality check. There have been other Michelin restaurants over the years - Country and Addison at the Grand Del Mar to name two, but most notable was returning to open Corton, Montrachet’s second-coming. Undoubtedly Corton received its opening, two star Michelin review and three star New York Times rating because Elizabeth was buying wines from the superior Bowler Wine portfolio.
After working harvest in the Cote d’Or (where she depleted the motherland of its entire butter supply), Elizabeth spent two years in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles and gifting the world a beautiful boy who is now eleven and can’t find his snack pack.
Consulting, a second masters degree, a long stint in the wine auction world, and her favorite role of being Mom have filled up the last several years. When not selling wine or looking for snack packs, you can find Elizabeth on her yoga mat, in the mountains, or on the soccer field, rooting for her son, and dreaming about her next meal and Chablis (sorry, Sancerre). She is thrilled to close another circle working with Bowler Wines as part of the opening team for the California division.
