Tokaji-Hegyalja
Tokaj is the first region to knowingly make wine from shriveled grapes. This 'noble rot'intensifies the sugar concentrations within the fruit. Situated between a volcanic mountain range, Great plain and two tributaries if the Tisza River ensures Tokaj perfect growing conditions; In the summer the plain ensures warm summer wine, the mountains provide shelter and rivers a cool autumn mist. Today three main grape varietals are grown in the region:70% are Furmint, highly susceptible to 'noble rot', 25% Harslevelu rich in sugar and aroma while less susceptible to rot and Muscat Blanc à Petis Grains a seasoning grape.
