"Champagne Marie Weiss is the second label of Ployez-Jacquemart. Laurence Ployez makes this wine from a cépages of fifty percent pinot noir and twenty-five percent each of chardonnay and pinot meunier. The new release is from the fine base year of 2018 and was disgorged in October of 2022, with a finishing dosage of six grams per liter. The bouquet is bright and complex, wafting from the glass in a mix of apple, white peach, fresh-baked bread, a lovely base of soil, gentle smokiness and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, focused and full- bodied, with a lovely core of fruit, excellent soil undertow and grip, refined mousse and a long, poised and beautifully balanced, complex finish. Most releases of Marie Weiss are built to drink from the moment of release, but this 2018 base year shows lovely structure and I have little doubt that tucking it away in the cellar for a couple of years will really pay handsome dividends. This is a superb value!"
