Strawberries and rose petals dominate both the aromas and flavors of this light and nimble rosé. Bone dry, with exotic red fruit and a clean lifted palate weight that makes sipping this wine ridiculously easy.
Most of the 2014 Wilde Farm rosé comes from The Fox Hill vineyard, located just south of the town of Ukiah on the Talmage Bench. The soils are well-drained, with high concentrations of gravel and sandstone. The vineyard is owned by Lowell Stone and tended to by Sam Bilbro. The vineyard is planted mostly to Italian varietals, including Barbera, Dolcetto, San Giovese Grosso and Tocai Friulano, amongst others. Fig, apple and plum trees dot the grounds, as well as an acre of olive trees. The Dolcetto which makes up the foundation of our 2014 rosè along with the saigneè of our Pinot Noir and Syrah, is sourced here, from the cooler, tree-shaded, north-west facing slopes.
