Chante Cigale

25% Grenache Blanc, 25% Roussanne, 25% Bourbelenc, 25% Clairette. 5% of the Roussanne is fermented in new oak for 6 weeks, then aged in stainless steel. No malolactic. It’s uncommon to find Bourboulenc in a Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc; Alexandre likes it in the blend because it tends to have lower alcohol than the other grapes, and brings acidity and balance to the wine.

Chante Cigale takes their white Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc seriously, as it’s approximately 20% of their total production- possibly the highest percentage of white made by any Châteauneuf producer!

"I love the traditional 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc and this blend of equal parts Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc and Clairette offers classic notes of citrus blossom, dried herbs, spice and hints of white flowers on the nose. Medium-bodied, pure, elegant, and lively with racy acidity on the finish, it’s beautifully done and will drink nicely for 4-5 years."
