98% old Syrah and 2% Roussanne from a 1.85 hectare parcel called "Les Combes" just north of Cornas. Very steep slopes with dry stone wall terraces built to minimize erosion. The soil is predominantly granite with patches of schist and limestone. It's harvested in two passes to get grapes with different ripeness. Vinified at the estate, our wines come from grapes manually harvested, de-stemmed and put into tanks with light sulphur doses. Fermentations skin contact (3 to 5 weeks) at a temperature of 22 / 23°C with soft extractions and a regular work of the lees. After a pneumatic pressure, blending of free run wine and press wine. Maturing 14 months, for a small part in 500L oak barrels and the other part is traditionally matured in a vat.

"Dark and tarry, with a core of steeped plum and crushed raspberry fruit studded with singed alder, black tea and licorice root notes, giving the finish a grippy feel. A light mineral accent echoes at the very end. Drink now through 2020. 667 cases made."
