A halbtrocken/feinherb style from a very old parcel within Brückstück called the Sternberg. This is a psychotically steep blue slate site adjacent to the Röttgen, Knebel’s warmest site and the main source for their sweet wines. While the wine has a distinctive elegance and savory character that presents more subtlety than the Röttgen, enormous fruit still shows through. The wine feels plump and generous in the mouth. The small amount of residual sugar present adds more of a textural dimension than any notable sweetness. There is a LOT going on here. The wine needs some time in the glass to unfold and perhaps a fatty fish to complete the pleasure of it.
