Moosburgerin was the first vineyard in the Kremstal to be named Erste Lage. Records go back at least a 1000 years for making wines from this top site. The subsoil is a calcareous conglomerate, covered with a thick layer of loess and limestone on top.
Austrian wine expert Philip Blom says the Moosbergerin, “achieves a mineral density and floral expressiveness that is little short of miraculous.”
A small single vineyard site whose name comes from a former property of the Kollegialstift Moosburg monastery in Bavaria. The bedrock consists of calcareous conglomerates of the Hollenburg- Karlstetten Formation, which are covered by a thick layer of loess overlain in turn by deep calcareous soils.
