Pallagrello Nero Terre del Volturno IGT "Hero" 2012

Product Line:
Pallagrello Nero

Not related to Pallagrello Bianco, this dark-skinned Campanian variety was rediscovered in the 90s by Pepe Mancini. The vineyard was planted in 2005 on an east-facing slope. The wine is fermented in steel then undergoes malolactic in used barriquess for one year followed by another year in bottle.

The wine is marked by its lovely bitter cherry aromas; wonderful fruit, with a distinct pepper note, high acidity and marked tannins. It is a fresh and ageable red wine. Around 300 cases produced.

"Aged 12 months in oak and 12 months in bottle, the 2012 Terre del Volturno Pallagrello Nero Hero is a gorgeous wine with a modern approach. The bouquet opens to relaxed notes of blackberry, dried cherry, espresso bean and exotic spice. Compared to its peers that can sometimes feel rustic and raw in approach, Hero is extra smooth and supple in texture. Endnotes of dried mushroom and rose petal make for very pretty impressions on the close. "
