Latricières-Chambertin 2015

Product Line:
Pinot Noir

This vineyard is located at the very top of the Latricières apellation. Bordered by woods on three sides, with a very rocky soil, this half-hectare vineyard produces fresh, mineral wines. The block is divided in two parts, an old one of about 60 years old and a younger part which is about 25 years old.  100% whole cluster fermentation. 40% new oak.

"(100% vendange entier): Bright medium red. Wilder on the nose than the Echézeaux, with its high-pitched strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant aromas complicated by a rocky quality and deep, smoky earth tones. Then plush, sweet and suave in the mouth, with the whole-bunch energy giving the mid-palate a lacy quality. Finishes with fairly fine-grained tannins and brisk peppery lift. This doesn't show quite the complexity, definition or sheer éclat of the best 2015s at this address, and also seemed to shut down in the glass."

"A strikingly fresh, cool and highly restrained nose features notes of ripe red currants, floral, earth and hints of wood and the sauvage. There is equally good freshness and intensity to the vibrant and tightly coiled mineral-driven flavors that exhibit outstanding delineation on the taut, persistent and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is at present not especially complex but my range offers the benefit of the doubt that more will develop as this will need an extended amount of bottle age and thus there is plenty of time for additional complexity to arise."
