Kepos IGT Costa Toscana 2014

Product Line:

Different Mediterranean grape varieties- 80% Alicante Nero (aka Grenache),18% Carignano, 2% Alicante Bouschet.  The varietals are destemmed and fermented together to produce this wine. The grapes are sourced in the vineyards closest to the sea, in Ampeleia di Sotto, where the Mediterranean scrub dominates the landscape, permeating the air with its fragrances. Sourced from parcels at 200-350 meters above sea level. The fruit was harvested from the 10th of September to the 5th of October at yields of 50 hl/ha; aged 11 months in cement tanks, followed by 7 months of aging in bottle prior to release. 'Kepos' is Greek and is synonymous with 'Garden,' any place where trees and herbs grow. 15,000 bottles produced.

"The 2014 Kepos is another bold, pungent wine from Ampeleia. Dark cherry, underbrush, game, tobacco, licorice and spices give the 2014 much of its brooding, inward personality. I would give the 2014 another year or so in the cellar, as it is very tightly wound at this stage. Still, there is plenty to like."
