Friulano is a dry white wine with a delicate bouquet with hints of bitter almonds, citrus fruits and remarkable nuances of licorice and elderflower. Formerly known as Tocai Friulano, the Tocai was dropped after a European Union court ruling deemed it too close in name to Hungarian Tokaj. Grillo’s version comes from a 1ha parcel of grapes planted in 1971 in the Albana di Prepotto area.
The grapes are de-stemmed and cold macerated, followed by five days of cold stabilization and extended lees contact in stainless steel. Only 440 cases produced.
