"The 2015 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Macherelles has a rather austere, earthy bouquet with touches of dewy pasture and woodland scents coming through with aeration. A few swirls of the glass and there is an attractive wild mint scent that surfaces. The palate is well balanced with peach and lychee on the entry lending a more exotic personality than the Les Encégnières. It is not as complex or as tensile as its 2014 counterpart, although the finish does deliver appreciable energy and persistence. It should offer several years of pleasure."

"Discreet hints of both petrol and resin add breadth to the very fresh though clearly ripe white orchard fruit aromas where additional nuance is present in the form of citrus and a hint of mango. There is good richness though perhaps not quite the mid-palate density to the medium weight flavors that culminate in a lingering finale that is no more complex though the texture is definitely finer."
