Location : on the right bank of the Serein River, with south facing exposition. In the name of this vineyard, "val" refers to "valley" and "mur" is "ripe" in French. In this Valley of Ripeness parcel, the grapes reach full maturity and gives a wine with a lot of roundness and rich fruit.

"Pineapple, lemon zest and crushed stone on the nose, along with the typical spicy character of the cru. Broad, moderately ripe and energetic but a bit less filled in than the Bougros and not singing today. The tangy lemon and orange flavors convey a subtle saline quality as well as a faint dry edge. The yield here was almost normal in 2016, noted Piuze."

"The 2016 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is harvested late in the afternoon to extract as much fruit as possible. It has an expressive bouquet with crisp lemon thyme and oyster shell aromas. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity and a fine sense of tension, linear and poised with those oyster shell notes returning on the nutmeg-infused finish. This might just turn out to be the best 2016 that Patrick Piuze has will be fun finding out."
