Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent 2015

Product Line:
Farming Type:
Piuze, Patrick

Vaulorent is a sub-climate of 1er Cru Fourchaume; it is located on the same hill as all of the Grand Cru, but is not Grand Cru because it is not a part of the commune of Chablis. The vineyards face north and it's one of the last to be harvested. Limestone soil. Clean and fresh with a persistent mineral back bone.

"The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Vaulorent has a tightly wound bouquet that comes across a little reticent at first, though it unfurls and offers spice and cracked pepper notes with aeration. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity. It feels saline in the mouth like Piuze’s Chablis Butteaux, albeit with a little more weight and persistence on the finish. Don't be afraid to decant this for 30-60 minutes. "

"Pale, bright yellow-green. Aromas of lime zest and spices. Very rich flavors of citrus fruits, white pepper and nutmeg are nicely framed by ripe acidity. Finishes broad and dry but not austere, with a piquant repeating note of nutmeg that Piuze says is a characteristic more typical of the nearby valley of Valmur."
