Chablis 1er Cru les Roncières 2015

Product Line:

Piuze, Patrick

Roncières is a new addition to Piuze's line up as of 2015. It's a sub-climate of Vaillons with 35 year-old vines. It's quite structured and has nice length.

"The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Les Roncières is a maiden release from a sub-climat within Vaillons that tends to have a chalky sub-soil. It has a crisp and focused bouquet with pretty yellow flower and cheeky touches of peppermint. The palate is well balanced with a rounded, slightly honeyed entry, the acidity well judged and a taut and linear, very satisfying and slightly oily finish. This is an excellent debut. "

"(from 35-year-old vines planted east-west, resulting in less skin maturity; this sélection massale yielded just 48 hectoliters per hectare in 2015): Aromas of white fruits and chalk accented by peppery spices. Distinctly salty and classic, with lovely limey lift giving the middle palate a lovely perfumed quality. Long on personality and very saline on the long finish. I'm not sure I would have picked the vintage here. Roncières is a sub-climat of Vaillons, with its vines facing east."
