"The 2015 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, which is matured entirely in new oak (both barrels!), has a very complex, quite intense bouquet with touches of white peach and apricot blossom developing in the glass. The wood is neatly folded into the fruit here. The palate is very well balanced with tropical hints on the entry - pineapple, peach and nectarine - though this is counterbalanced by the acidity. It feels weighty yet harmonious in the mouth, even if it does not quite possess the razor-sharp delineation of the 2014 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet. Nevertheless, this is a gorgeous white Burgundy that will be difficult to resist in its youth.
