Barolo Lazzarito 'Vigna Preve'

2014
Italy
Piedmont

3/750ml.

The Preve vineyard, in the cru of Lazzarito, is a cru of calcareous marls and sandstone, which gives a saline quality to the wines. The fruit macerated on the skins for 12 days; the wine was aged for 33 months in one 20hl cask.

"Some deep fruit aromas in the dark-cherry and plum spectrum. There's also a swathe of sweetly aromatic spices on offer. The palate has an impressive linear structure, as well as fresh spiced cherries ahead of a smooth, stony and tannic finish. An excellent wine. Try from 2022."

"In 2014 this estate decided to age its Barolos only in large casks. The nose is sweet, intense and floral, with pure red fruit aromas. It's fairly rich, forthright and concentrated on the palate, showing freshness and flair too. There's spice and zest on the mid-palate, and that energy carries the wine to a persuasive and long finish. Drinking Window 2019 - 2032"
