Bethany comes to David Bowler Wine with a life-long love for eating, languages, writing, and travel. She holds a BA in Romance Languages and an MA in French Studies from NYU. Her wine education began in 2010 upon deciding to return stateside after a year teaching English at Lycée Grand Air in La Baule-Escoublac on France’s west coast. She landed serendipitously as an intern in Daniel Johnnes’ office and as a sales associate at Uva Wines in Williamsburg. Her relationship with wine quickly evolved from habit to interest, finally blossoming into a full-blown passion after tasting some older wine from Daniel’s cellar and experiencing acute synesthesia. Bethany was lucky to be exposed early on to the wily charms of Burgundy through her experience working on the event production team for four Daniel Johnnes’ La Paulée events, and the region is dear to her heart.
In May of 2013 Bethany began to build David Bowler Wine’s national import business. This work has twice brought her to the Canary Islands, where she has been seduced by the regions’ striking otherworldly landscapes, supernaturally old Pie Franco vines and overwhelmingly generous hospitality of the winemakers. It is a joy to share the wines of this lesser known region with likeminded distributors.
Bethany is thrilled to be working at a company known for its integrity and commitment to the promotion and distribution of small-scale products that speak to their terroir. Given another lifetime, she would love to devote herself to the improvement of America’s food supply chain.
Bethany’s non-alcoholic interests include long-distance running, weight training, hiking, blackjack, neuroplasticity and rock-n-roll.
