Nidoleres

Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains near the Spanish border, Domaine de Nidolères has been a family-run estate for five generations.  The family’s holdings span several appellations within a single parcel: Côtes du Roussillon, Rivesaltes, Muscat de Rivesaltes and Vin de Pays. Winemaker Pierre Escudie tends their 50 hectares of vines organically, which are planted on terraces where the soil varies from clay to sand to a stoney mix. All grapes are harvested by hand and sorted in the vineyard during harvest. The wines are then vinified traditionally: no yeasts are added, fermentation and aging occur in vats (no barrels), and the wine is subsequently bottled unfiltered in order to preserve the character of each wine. Escudie bottles four different Côtes de Roussillon wines, each a different blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvèdre. The estate’s treasure is the collection of 90 year-old Carignan vines, which make up 60% of the blend in the “Angelette” cuvée.
