Made by the talented Carles Escolar, Zaumau is a refreshing change from many of the more internationally styled wines from Priorat. Both cuvees are made from local varietals and neither one sees any oak, enabling us to see the real terroir of Priorat. The vines are planted in the common Llicocerella/Slate soils and average vine age is 60-80yrs old. The white is a blend of Garnacha Blanca, Macabaeo, Viura and PX while the red and Solera are both blends of Garnacha and Samso (CarniƱena).
a blend of Garnacha and Samso (Carniñena). Spicy, complex, fresh, lively, like the white it is unoaked, so it is very pure and elegant. Carles Escolar (of Clos de Noi) really knows how to bring out the best in his fruit!
