FranceBeaujolais

Although Beaujolais Nouveau has popularized this pretty, hilly region in the very southern district of Burgundy, there are even more delicious and serious wines to be found among the “cru” of Beaujolais; that is, the wines from one of the ten villages whose name is allowed by law to be on the label.  They are: Brouilly, Cotes de Brouilly, Morgon, Fleurie, St. Amour, Moulin A Vent, Regnie, Chenas, Julienas, and Chiroubles. In addition to these ten cru, a plain “Beaujolais” or “Beaujolais Villages” slighly chilled (and from a good producer), is one of life’s great, uncomplicated pleasures.
