The Binissalem Mallorca wine region is situated in the center of Majorca. The Tramuntana or Alfabia mountain ranges protect the district from the cold northerly winds in the winter. The climate can be classified as a mild Mediterranean one, with hot, dry summers and short winters. The terroir consists of quaternary continental sediments, rich in calcic materials, resulting in a grey-brown or grey-brown-limey soil leding to the power, structure and minerality that the wines from this area possess. The native varietals for the reds are Mantonegro, Callet and Moll or Prensal Blanc for white wine production.
